Dirham (Silver, 27 mm, 2.74 g, 9 h), al-Mubarakiya al-mahrusa. ‘lā ilāha illā Allāh / waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); in the margin, traces of ‘allāhumma mālik al-mulk tuʾtī al-mulk man tashāʾ wa tanziʿu al-mulk mimman tashāʾ (‘O Allah, Owner of the Kingdom! Thou givest the kingdom to whomsoever Thou pleasest and takest away the kingdom from whomsoever Thou pleasest’ in Arabic; Qurʾān 3: 26). Rev. ‘qāʾān / al-aʿẓam / Hūlākū īlkhān / al-muʿẓẓam’ (‘The supreme Khan; Hulagu, the great Ilkhan’ in Arabic); ‘The supreme Khan’ refers to Hulagu’s overlord, the Great Mongol Möngke (AH 649-657 / AD 1251-1259); mint and date formula in the margin, of which only the mint name is legible.
